FREE BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE
Weight and Size Demands
Free baggage allowance depends on the class and the destination of the flight.
There are two free baggage allowance concepts in the world: weight concept and piece concept.
Weight Concept
The system helps the passengers to determine the weight of the baggage they can take free of charge. The free baggage allowance is 20 kg for Economy Class, 30 kg for Business Class. These standards concern adults and infants over two and fully meet the world standards.
Anyway the norms may vary depending on the destination, so do not forget to find out about free baggage allowance at your destination as you buy your ticket. But In any case the size (length, width and height) of each piece should not exceed 158 cm for Economy Class and 203 cm for Business Class and First Class.
Piece Concept
This concept is usually used for transatlantic flights and helps the passengers to define the number of pieces they can take free of charge.
Regardless of the class the free baggage allowance is defined as two pieces the weight of each not exceeding 32 kg. Pay attention to the fact, that you cannot sum the weight of the pieces! It means that if one piece is more than 32 kg, you will be charged an extra fee, even though the other piece is less than 32 kg. The size (length, width and height) of each piece should not exceed 158 cm for Economy Class and 203 cm for Business Class.
Under the established rules, a passenger is allowed to take with him or her one piece of non-checked luggage, but its weight is included into the allowed free carriage norm. Its weight should not exceed 10 kg and its size (length, width and height) should be no more than 115 cm.
Outsize baggage is extra charged, depending on the airline. Outsize baggage must always be booked in advance, to ensure that it comes on a specific flight. On registration the airline is fully responsible for extra costs concerning its loading and unloading.
